Knowing, going, then growing

Mount Mariah AME Zion is a Methodist church where we believe God is not finished with us yet. We gather in prayer and praise, we go out in service to our community and beyond, and we grow stronger together in faith. Our work is rooted in Scripture, lived out in local outreach, and extended to those in need across our region, nation, and world. Small in numbers, but big in God, we are committed to reaching souls, changing lives, and restoring families.

Value 01

Rooted in Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. It shapes how we teach, how we counsel one another, and how we live together as a church. Scripture is not something we admire from a distance, it is the foundation of everything we do.

You will see this conviction in our worship and our life together. Our sermons walk through whole books of the Bible, not just the verses that are easy to preach. Our prayer and pastoral care are rooted in God's Word. Small groups gather to read Scripture together and wrestle with what it means for our lives.

We are not interested in following every trend. We are interested in being faithful to God's Word, and that means staying anchored to a text that is older than every cultural moment and steadier than every season. When we get tired or confused, we return to Scripture to remember who God is and who we are.

Value 02

Rooted in Community

The church is not a building we attend. It is a family we belong to. We gather on Sunday mornings, Wednesday afternoons, and at other times throughout the week to worship, pray, and support one another in faith.

That picture still shapes us. Sundays are how we start the week together, but they are not the whole of the week. Most of our real life happens in small groups where we read Scripture, pray for one another, and tell the truth about what is actually going on at home and at work. We believe the Christian life is not meant to be lived alone.

Hospitality is not a program for us. It is a posture. We try to be the kind of church where the new person on a Sunday gets welcomed warmly, where the family in a hard season gets meals and prayer without having to ask, and where everybody knows they belong. Whether you come dressed up or in jeans, you are family here.

Value 03

Rooted in Service

Mt. Moriah African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church always moves outward. What we have received freely, we give freely, and that calling does not stop at the edge of our property line. A church that only takes care of itself has forgotten what it is for. Our city is our neighbor, and our neighbor is our charge.

For us that means showing up in the ordinary places where need is already present. We tutor students in local schools who need academic support. We work with food pantries to ensure families have access to groceries. We visit those who are incarcerated, and we walk alongside those in recovery. We keep a quiet care fund so members can help neighbors with rent, utilities, and medical bills without anybody having to know who paid.

None of this is glamorous, and that is the point. We are not chasing impact metrics. We are trying to be the kind of family that shows up with casseroles, work gloves, and an open afternoon when somebody nearby is having a hard week. That is what grace looks like with shoes on.

These values lived out together

Faith grows strongest in community. We invite you to join us for worship, connect with a small group, or visit one of our outreach ministries. See how these commitments come alive when we gather together.
